Stars

Image

I cannot look up to the stars
I cannot see them burning when I know
that they may all seem so together
But they are far far apart
every day every night every moment
I cannot look up to them when I know
you won’t be there beside me
to say by what names they are called

Don’t you see how destiny
plays a game of irony
oh the stars bringing us together
were cold and lonely forever

Baby, look at them they are just like us
they seem close but they are light years away
people just look at them from far
and forget that they are light years away
alone and cold

Oh its unbearable how our hearts are so cold
its like we’re bloodless, lifeless bits of stone
we so gladly accept the reality
the story that we told
is not what fate wrote
we were doomed from the start
we based our love on the stars..

They don’t see that ecstasy
stays but momentarily
oh the love that was our nectar
was empty and maybe for the better

Baby, look at them they are just like us
they seem close but they are light years away
people just look at them from far
and forget that they are light years away
alone and cold

Regret Rendition

dusty roads, scattered lives
memories captured in forever smiles
looking back, just a little peek
realise what I’ve lost, thinking its a win

i reach out, but too late, i can’t go back even though i try

i’m walking down a line
where there’s no turning back
a teardrop in my eye
but no one by my side, to pat my tears dry

broken windows, during play
i play it back now, all i can say
all those things that i tried to hide
i want them back now, in my life

i went back, but the doors closed, i can’t bring back even though i try

i’m walking down a line
where there’s no turning back
a teardrop in my eye
but no one by my side, to pat my tears dry

there came a time, i thought i got back
some of it that had went away
when u smiled, but, then it all changed
when i saw that ring on your finger
guess twas silly of me, to think that
you would wait for a long lost stranger

oh why I’ve walked down a line
where there’s no turning back
a teardrop in my eye
but no one by my side, to pat my tears dry
